Open to high school seniors currently enrolled in a Catholic High School in Cook County or Lake Counties, Illinois.

Winning essay will be published in an upcoming issue of the Catholic New World. All three winners will also receive a one-year complimentary subscription to the Catholic New World.

Essay should be 600 words or less.

Content: Answer the following question: Explain your understanding of the relationship between protecting God’s creation and peace (may refer to Message of Pope Benedict XVI for the Celebration of the World Day of Peace Jan. 1, 2010). How has your education in the Catholic faith informed your understanding of humanity’s responsibility to the environment, which will provide “Dividends for Life”?

Deadline: All essays must be received by the Catholic New World no later than April 1st, 2010. Winners will be notified in writing no later than May 1st, 2010.
