Father Marty Michniewicz(pronounced “Micknevich”), is a fervent Hawks fan. The former pastor at St. Andrew the Apostle (Calumet City) now newly appointed pastor at St. Alexander (Palos Heights) says, “I was in diapers the last time they won the cup.” Father Marty was part of the deafening United Center crowd at the Hawks’ first playoff game. He’s a team booster, especially, his favorite winger Marian Hossa, No. 81. “I like the cut of his jib,” Michniewicz says. Father has outfitted his nephews and nieces around the United States in Blackhawks gear and they’re all fans. Michniewicz’s Hawks fever was featured on ABC-7 news prior to the final game. . . . It was the 1970s. Seminarian Dave Engbarth started a 10:30 a.m. young people’s choir at St. Aloysius Church (W. LeMoyne).
