How can parents enhance Lenten season for kids?
Don’t forget Ash Wednesday Feb. 17
In spite of the somewhat intimidating themes of penance, prayer and fasting, Lent offers a wonderful opportunity to teach kids about the central mysteries of the Catholic faith.
Personal experiences lead deacons to take on violence in city
The basement of Holy Angels Church, 615 E. Oakwood Blvd., was only half lit when Deacon Pablo Perez walked in and sat down at a table with two others — Deacon LeRoy Gill to his left and Deacon Richard Johnson across the table. St. Cletus rallies to honor memory of parishioner
When Erin Potts completed her first round of chemotherapy in October 2007, dozens lined the street with candles and banners to welcome the LaGrange resident home. Just in time for St. Valentine’s Day, “Dear John” is a love story based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks (“A Walk To Remember,” “The Notebook”). Judging from the popularity and solid romantic weavings of these earlier novels- to-movies, “Dear John” is going to be another favorite.
Parish potpourri — St. Margaret Mary Parish (W. Chase) has the new ordinary of Milwaukee, Archbishop Jerome Listecki, preaching their Lenten mission, 7 p.m. March 1-3. . . . St. Mary’s (Buffalo Grove) varsity cheerleaders are Illinois Elementary School State Champions. The seventh- and eighthgrade girls competed in Peoria, Ill., against 15 other statewide teams.
Bringing a new baby home is a little like falling in love all over again.
There’s the sense of infatuation — the besottedness that makes new parents coo over every little part of their baby. The cute nose, the pretty ears, the darling little toes.
