Sister of St. Joseph Donatille Ramut, 87, died March 7. She was a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis for 71 years. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Roman, St. Barbara (Throop St.) and the now closed St. Salomea schools. She also taught in Wisconsin and Indiana. She is survived by a sister, Bernice Ramut, nephews, and their families.
Fr. Arthur Dillon
Former St. Anne pastor
Chicago native and priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago for nearly 60 years Father Arthur John Dillon, 84, died March 2 at St. Benedict Home in Niles, where he had been a resident for the last three years.
He was pastor emeritus of St. Anne Parish in Barrington since he retired in 1989.
Father Dillon grew up on the citys Southwest Side and attended Our Lady of Good Counsel elementary school. He was a graduate of Quigley Preparatory Seminary and the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein.
Ordained in 1945, he spent his first five years as a priest on Chicagos North Side at St. Ita Parish. He served as an assistant pastor at St. Sebastian for four years, a parish now closed, and for 10 years at Queen of Apostles Parish in Riverdale in the south suburbs.
From 1964 to 1971, Father Dillon served the parishioners of St. Bride Parish. In 1971, he was made pastor of St. Anne Parish in Barrington and remained there until his retirement in 1989.
During the time he was pastor of St. Anne, the parish doubled in size. According to St. Annes current pastor, Father John Dewes, the parish has also doubled in size since 1989.
Eugenia Bovyn

Mrs. Eugenia Bovyn, 71, died Feb. 24. Born in what was then Zagreb, Yugoslavia, her parents put her on a ship to the United States by herself when she was 5 years old to be raised by her uncle in Chicago.
She served as parish secretary at St. Francis Xavier Parish and Resurrection Parish (formed by the merger of St. Francis and St. Veronica parishes in 1991) for more than 25 years. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Deacon Paul Bovyn, and seven children: Michael, Cindy Beck, Laura Mathis, Greg, Glen, Timothy and Paula Shaughnessy; and 13 grandchildren.
Fr. Joseph Hartman
Teacher, chaplain
Augustinian Father Joseph Hartman, 85, died Feb. 10. Born in Audubon, New Jersey, he entered the Augustinian Preparatory Seminary in 1939. He was received into the novitiate in 1940, and professed his final vows in 1944. He was ordained a priest in 1947.
He served as a teacher, associate pastor and pastor in several states. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he served at St. Rita High School from 1948-63, and as vice-principal for studies at Mendel Catholic High School from 1964-66.
Father Hartman served as chaplain for the Chicago Fire Department for many years.
Sr. Carmela Pierick

Sinsinawa Dominican Carmela Pierick, 80, died Feb. 7.
Born in Highland, Wis., she was one of eight children. She made her final profession of vows in 1956. She ministered first as an elementary school teacher, and then she served in administrative positions.
In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Luke School in River Forest from 1955-58. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
Sr. Therese Bernier

Adrian Dominican Sister Therese Bernier, 75, died Feb. 5. Born in Detroit, Mich., she was in the 54th year of her religious profession. She spent 43 years ministering in education. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at Bishop Quarter School, Oak Park, in 1949, and at St. Nicholas School, Chicago, from 1952-56.
Sr. M. Vincentine Liss
Service ministries
Felician Sister Mary Vincentine Liss, 93, died Feb. 2. Born in LaSalle, Ill., she was a member of the Felician Sisters for 77 years. She taught at the elementary school level for eight years, and then ministered in a variety of service oriented ministries for 56 years.
In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at St. Joseph School (S. Paulina), 1928-35, and at Sacred Heart School (S. Wolcott), 1935-36.
Sr. Francilda Hell
Homemaker
School Sister of St. Francis Mary Francilda Hell, 89, died Jan. 28. Born in Mt. Carmel, N.D., she was received into the School Sisters of St. Francis in 1933 and made her profession of vows in 1937. She lived her religious ministry as a homemaker for 58 years at convents and schools in Illinois and Wisconsin. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she served as a homemaker at St. Joseph Convent in Wilmette from 1937-43.
Sr. M. Monica Idzikowski

Sister of Mercy Mary Monica Idzikowski, 96, died Jan. 30. Born in Milwaukee, she was a Sister of Mercy for 76 years.
In the Archdiocese of Chicago, she taught at Mercy High School, Chicago; Siena High School, Chicago; and St. Xavier Academy, Chicago. She retired in 1975 and resided in Aurora.
Sr. Mary Luke Makuch
Culinarian
Felician Sister Mary Luke Makuch, 85, died Dec. 17, 2003. Born in Szaflary, Poland, she was a member of the Felician Sisters for 64 years.
She entered the Felician Congregation in Krakow, Poland, and transferred to the Chicago Province in 1965. Before her transfer, she helped a group of children and women escape from war-torn Lwow to Warsaw and eventually to Krakow, Poland. Although they met German troops along the way, no one questioned the identities of the seven Jewish children and a Jewish mother with them.
While in Chicago, Sister Luke had the opportunity to prepare meals at the cardinals residence for Pope John Paul II during his visit to Chicago in 1979. She also ministered as a culinarian at St. Bruno, 1965-66; St. Wenceslaus, 1966-68 and 1969-72; and at the Felician Sisters Provincialate, 1972-89.
